The Power of Chinese Dot Coms
Via The Times of India: Chinese dots come of age, globally
This is a great article from the Times of India that talks about the dot-com revolution happening in China. Although many of the big internet companies in China aren't being valued as high as some of the US dot-coms, they've successfully created business models that may see them become even more dominant than their US counterparts. That dominance is coming partly from "pay-as-you-go" models of distribution, often with a touchpoint in text messaging services. This is due in part to the fact that credit cards are pretty scarce in that part of the world.
Is there a business model in here somewhere for an eager western company to seize upon? I think so.
