Red Bull "Art"
Red Bull is trying its hand at product placement in fine art. It's not anything entirely new, as we've seen this type of thing recently from the Sharp Aquos, although I'd hesitate to call many of these Red Bull entries "fine art."

this is soooooo not new. red bull has been doing "creativity contests" or "art of the can" events (ie: people make things out of the can) all over the world for several years.
and why do you call it "product placement" ... this isn't a movie or tv show. it is a red bull event and web site. they're not trying to place the can in a museum or anything, although i'm sure mateschitz and co. would lovit.
sorry to come down so hard on you, but you should get your facts straight before making "random cultural" comments, don't cha think?
(full disclosure: i have worked for the company.)

Thanks for the comment George. While Red Bull has been doing this for a while, this is the first such event in the US.
If they aren't trying to weave this stuff into fine art, why are they referring to it as an "exhibition" and holding it at the Artist for Humanity Epicenter in South Boston. That's why I call it product placement.
I may also be coming down a little hard on it because I have a background in fine art.
