Not sure how I missed this a week ago... But it made me smile when I saw it today.
This story should have the record labels quaking in their boots. An album that was available ONLY on the web got a Grammy. According to a CNET article, Jazz composer Maria Schneider won a Grammy for her album "Concert in the Garden." She financed the production of the album through ArtistShare, where fans can help finance the production of albums.
We're sure to see more of this in the future.
