If you're not familiar with the May 1st Reboot, you should be. The annual event has been happening since 2001, with websites all over the world pledging to redesign on May 1st. Traditionally, participants have been creatives and web designers, so a bulk of the sites that get redesigned are portfolios and agency sites. In fact, one of the best things about the May 1st Reboot is that it's a great way to see some of the latest design from some of the best creative minds working in the field today. The site has voting enabled, so you can see some of the top rated redesigns.
Note: You may find a number of sites that haven't launched yet, but be patient, they will at some point today.
It doesn't end there... the May 1st Reboot spawned a spin-off this year. Since many of the sites involved in the traditional reboot were flash sites, the May 1st CSS Reboot was born. This spin-off event focuses on CSS driven, web standards compliant sites. The goal is to show the world that great design and accessibility can go hand in hand.
Spend your spare time this week looking at these "rebooted" sites. You're sure to find great work and inspiration from the people participating in both events.
