Update: ABC Episode Streaming

Abcstreaming2

So this morning I finally got the ABC full episode streaming to work... and I'm impressed. You can see a screencap from the episode of Alias I watch. Now, it's not a download, but the quality is really good, and the best part - you can skip around everything but the commercials. Of course, the interface to do this isn't the standard "forward" and "back" controls we're used to. Rather, all you have to do is mouse over the time line and simply click where you want to skip to.

The ads are also interesting, since they're not actually embedded in the video stream. Instead, they're interactive ad units that are much more robust. Here's an example of the Olay Regenerist ad I saw while watching Alias:

Overall, I'm impressed by how ABC has executed this initiative. It seems for now that they've solved the technical issues from yesterday's barrage of visitors (at least until LOST airs on Wednesday) and the streaming is good quality with intuitive controls.

Now ABC, just take the next leap to allowing downloads. You can do it!
