AOL's Digg Killer
Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 4:47AM On the heels of the announcement of the Digg.com redesign, AOL has leaked some information about the "Digg Killer" that they're launching... actually, they haven't really leaked much. You can see a tiny bit of the interface in the screenshots, but not enough to make any judgements.
Based on earlier information, we know that AOL's "Digg Killer" is really a revival of Netscape, headed up by Jason Calacanis. AOL sure is releasing a lot of "killers", but none of them seem to be killing anything.
Update: TechCrunch has some more details, including better screenshots of the homepage and an individual article page from the actual interface.
Basically, it's like Digg with a bunch of advertising and a cluttered interface.
Update Update: It's live... check it out at: beta.netscape.com. The criticism is already rolling in. Service seems to be up and down, so be patient.
