There's almost too much online video news happening these days to keep up with. Of course, you've been living under a rock if you haven't heard about the NBC/News Corp video venture, but we have more important things to talk about.
Video Traffic: Take it With a Grain of Salt
ComScore says MySpace videos and Yahoo videos have a larger share of the video audience than YouTube. But Hitwise has a different view, putting YouTube on top. And wait... Alexa says it's Google Video. Who do you believe? Greg Sterling has a good post on the subject. I have to go with ComScore. We all know Alexa data is unreliable because it's only looking at traffic from people who have the Alexa toolbar. Hitwise has also had similar issues. But I'm how do you reconcile the difference between Nielsen and ComScore?
Joost
There has been more than a little bit of buzz about Joost in the blogosphere. Remember the Gmail frenzy, where invites to the service became so sought after that people were selling them? The same thing is happening with Joost. So what is it? Their new commercial MIGHT explain it:
Ok, so maybe that doesn't explain it very well. Visit their website to learn more. I like the focus on quality. This is definitely one to keep an eye on. You can find some great coverage on Joost at PSFK.
