Matt Rhodes at FutureLab blogs about this great WOMMA presentation by Antony Mayfield. In it, Mayfield asks a simple question: "Do you speak social?" He makes a great argument that we're in a phase right now of understanding what it means to be "literate" in the social web. Mayfield also does a great job exploring what it means to be social web "illiterate", and how individuals and organizations can grow to become more literate in the social web.
"It wasn’t the invention of the printing press per se that caused a revolution; it was when everybody learned to read."
Update: Even more on social "literacy" - From Howard Rheingold.
