Firefox Flicks Winners Announced

Firefox has announced the winners of the Firefox Flicks competition, including two honorable mentions. Here they are:

1. Daredevil
2. Wheee!
3. Fox Fever

The two honorable mentions are:

1. This is Hot
2. Give Me the Soap

The sad part is, I actually think "This is Hot", is really the best of the lot. Not sure how it got pushed down to just an honorable mention. Watch it below:

Firefox Flicks

Firefox is continuing it's tradition of letting their fanatic user base do the marketing for them. At the end of last year, they launched "Firefox Flicks", an open submission for fans of the browser to send in testimonials. Well know, it's a full blown ad creation contest.

They've got a blog for the contest, as well as a creative brief for the ads. The judges include people from TV, film and advertising, including the founder of Strawberry Frog, Scott Goodson.

This is definitely consumer generated content at its finest.

Portable Firefox: Pre-loaded

I like the idea of "portable software." It's software that can be run on a flash drive. This means you can keep the same application data from computer to computer.

Well, it looks like a Flash Drive manufacturer in Japan, Hagiwara Systems, is selling their product pre-loaded with the portable version of Firefox. Tech Japan has the full story.
