Travelocity Roaming Gnome MySpace

The agency I work for, Click Here, just launched a MySpace custom community for the Travelocity Roaming Gnome. You can view the profile at: http://myspace.com/roaminggnome.

It's a project that I was closely associated with, and we're all very proud of the results. And unlike the efforts of many other advertisers on MySpace, this custom community won't be static! The Roaming Gnome will be actively blogging, commenting on profiles and sending bulletins, special deals and announcements to his friends.

Virgin America: Let VA Fly

Virgin is trying to launch "Virgin America", but the US Department of Transportation has tentatively rejected their airline application. In response, Virgin America has launched a "grassroots" campaign called "Let VA Fly." It's very similar to the public opinion campaign that Southwest launched in Texas, called "Set Love Free." As you know... Southwest saw a great response, and that's why I can now fly Southwest from Dallas to Kansas City.

Virgin has set up a website at www.letvafly.com. Here's a screenshot.

One of the reasons I think this campaign will be successful is that the new Airbus planes they're using are friggin' AMAZING. Don't believe me? Check out this video they've postd on YouTube:

The agency I work for, Click Here, just helped Travelocity launch a blog called The Window Seat. It's written by their travel experts, and I think is a great example of a company providing genuinely good content, rather than trying to use the format to shill products and services. Definitely worth checking out, particularly if you're interested in travel. You can check out a press release for the launch here.

Southwest Launches Blog

Southwest Airlines has launched the "Nuts About Southwest" blog. As the site states:

"Nuts about Southwest is all about our Employees, Customers, airplanes, and airports. We really are Nuts about Southwest and we hope that our Readers will share that passion by posting their own comments."

I'm not sure I would be reading this on a regular basis, but they're doing a few things right. The design looks good, they've enabled comments and they're linking out to other sites. It's certainly a good start.
